About Us

Having worked together for several years for a company that provides communication services to secure establishments, and from liaising with friends and family of women in custody, Cindy and Louise discovered a missed opportunity to support children who have a parent/guardian serving a custodial sentence. The impact this can have on a child cannot be underestimated.​

Cindy and Louise understand the critical importance of maintaining family ties. This is important for all concerned but especially to keep these bonds strong between a child and parent/guardian during the period of absence.​

Beyond the Book has been created to benefit children who may be disadvantaged and experiencing the hardship of separation due to an absent parent/guardian.​

As parents, Cindy and Louise know the many benefits that reading can bring to a child and parent/guardian relationship. They would like to offer those in custody the same experience through the gifting of a book. ​
